This article examines the effectiveness of resocialization in the female prison system in the Federal District, in light of the Penal Execution Law (LEP). The challenges faced by the inmates were analyzed, such as overcrowding, lack of infrastructure and the absence of educational and work programs that favor their social reintegration. Throughout the article, the particularities of female incarceration were discussed, such as the separation of mothers from their children and post-prison social stigma, which hinder resocialization and increase criminal recidivism. The study proposes the need for more inclusive public policies suited to gender specificities so that resocialization is effective and contributes to reducing recidivism.
