Abstract

The research aims to reflect on the city from its vitality, using literature as a key to reading the urban fabric. The conduction of the research was based on the following novels: They were many horses by Luiz Ruffato and Passageiro do fim do dia by Rubens Figueiredo. Thus, throughout the text, city theorists will share reflections on the urban fabric with novelists and their respective characters. Finally, the reflection advances in the sense of literature as central to the understanding of the many and diverse possibilities of reading the city and everyday life that form it, in particular, the city of Rio de Janeiro.
