Abstract

The growing incorporation of digital technologies into everyday life has expanded the reach of telework and significantly transformed the organization of family life. In this context, this study aims to examine how telework influences the organization of contemporary families, identifying the main impacts of this work model on household routines, the distribution of responsibilities, and patterns of daily interaction. To achieve this objective, a bibliographic approach was adopted, gathering contributions from research addressing the topic. The findings indicate that telework provides benefits such as flexibility, time savings, and reduced commuting, potentially fostering greater participation in domestic tasks and increasing autonomy in organizing daily activities. However, the studies also highlight substantial challenges, particularly the continuous overlap between family demands and work obligations, difficulties in establishing clear boundaries between social roles, increased interruptions, and the tendency toward extended working hours. These conditions intensify tensions within family life, heighten stress levels, and contribute to feelings of exhaustion. The analysis demonstrates that the adoption of telework profoundly reshapes the dynamics of contemporary families while also revealing the need for strategies that support the establishment of more balanced boundaries between personal life and work. Thus, understanding these effects becomes essential to guide organizational practices and public policies aimed at promoting a sustainable model of remote work.
