This article investigates the potential of process mapping tools in improving the psychological evaluation for firearm possession permits for retired members of the Paraná Military Police (PMPR), identifying operational weaknesses and bottlenecks. A qualitative case study was adopted, with the collection of primary and secondary data, mapping the AS-IS model and proposing a TO-BE model. The findings indicate informality in the initiation process and the lack of defined responsibilities as root causes of delays, pointing to a high concentration of responsibilities in the Biopsychosocial Care Center (CAB). The TO-BE model proposes formalization via e-protocol and the restructuring of steps, aiming for agility and legal security. The research concludes that the application of the tools promotes administrative standardization and resource optimization, aligned with the strategic objectives of the PMPR.
