Abstract

This article analyzes the implementation of a structured system for the proper disposal of electronic waste in a footwear retail company located in the interior of Northeast Brazil. The study was driven by the growing challenge of improper disposal of such materials, which results in serious environmental and legal consequences. Strategies such as reverse logistics, environmental education, and partnerships with licensed recyclers were explored, including the establishment of selective collection points and the active engagement of employees. Using a qualitative research approach encompassing diagnosis, educational workshops, monitoring, and results evaluation it was found that the adopted practices led to significant organizational transformation, reduced environmental risks, and enhanced the company's institutional reputation. In addition to overcoming initial barriers, the intervention brought about sustainable gains and provided a model for future replication in similar contexts. The study concludes that integrated waste management actions, aligned with socio-environmental responsibility and ongoing education, are essential to strengthen organizational culture and promote sustainable development in the business sector.
