In Brazil, especially in the state of Pernambuco, surveys on the mental health of judicial officers are still scarce, reinforcing the need for comparative studies capable of revealing regional similarities and specificities that can support public and institutional policies aimed at the well-being of these employees. Given this scenario, this research seeks to answer the following question: What are the factors that contribute to the development of burnout syndrome among judicial officers in Portugal and Pernambuco, and how do the realities of these contexts resemble or differ? To conduct this research, a qualitative and comparative methodology was used, as well as bibliographic and bibliometric ones. According to Gil (2019), bibliographic research is defined as that conducted based on the analysis of previously published works, be they books, articles, or dissertations. As a result, the research identified that the effectiveness of burnout prevention policies requires political will, management training, investment in mental health, and a cultural shift within judicial institutions, overcoming paradigms of dehumanized productivity in favor of a work environment that values the well-being and dignity of professionals.
