This project examines the evolution of civil identification in Brazil, from rudimentary methods to biometrics, highlighting its impact on the accuracy of human identification. It analyzes how these transformations strengthen criminal analysis and public security practices in Amazonas. The research highlights the importance of biometrics in reducing errors, protecting rights, and improving the performance of security agencies. The objective is to describe the history of civil identification, from its origins to biometrics, and to highlight its contributions to criminal analysis in public security practices in Amazonas. Regarding methodology, it is a qualitative, descriptive research using the historical method and case study. Data analysis confirms the hypothesis that the biometric Civil Identification System contributes to criminal analysis in the public security system of the state of Amazonas and represents a significant leap in institutional security and efficiency of public administration.
