Abstract

This article sought to understand the role of primary care in a context of increased violence against women, emphasizing the post-pandemic period, identifying the main impacts and what measures should have been taken. Based on this, a literature review of evidence published in the scientific literature was conducted, based on articles published between 2006 and 2024. The work addresses the violence experienced by women in Brazil and its types, which is characterized as a problem rooted in society, based on patriarchal and sexist ideas that lead to the normalization of these actions, causing physical and psychological harm to the victims. In 2020, there was an increase in cases, as there was greater complicity with partners within their homes due to fear of contagion by the SARS-CoV-2 virus, in addition to a scenario of greater tension. Given this, primary care, acting as the gateway to the health system, becomes essential in supporting and referring these victims. However, given the obstacles faced, it is important to empower healthcare professionals to provide adequate care, in addition to improving primary care network services.
