Pressure injuries represent one of the main challenges faced by the nursing team in Intensive Care Units (ICUs), especially due to the critical condition and immobility of patients. Nursing care focused on the prevention and treatment of these injuries requires technical-scientific knowledge, planning, the use of care protocols, and continuous monitoring. This article aims to analyze the importance of nursing care in the prevention and treatment of pressure injuries in patients admitted to the adult ICU. This is a literature review based on recent scientific publications. The results indicate that the nurse's role is essential in implementing preventive, educational, and monitoring measures, reducing the incidence and severity of pressure injuries, contributing to the safety and quality of care provided.
