Abstract

The study reveals that the literature emphasizes the role of Health-Promoting Schools, which integrate educational, preventive, and community actions to strengthen physical, emotional, and social well-being. The review indicates that creating healthy school environments depends on the collaboration between managers, teachers, families, and health professionals, involving adequate structural conditions and pedagogical practices that encourage coexistence, care, and participation. The findings also show that health education should function as a transversal curricular axis, fostering autonomy, critical awareness, and healthy habits among students. Moreover, the analysis reinforces the importance of intersectorality, linking education and health policies as essential for implementing continuous and effective strategies within schools. Mental health and emotional well-being emerge as central dimensions influencing academic performance, engagement, and socio-emotional development. Overall, the study concludes that health promotion in schools requires permanent planning, collective participation, and integration into the institutional pedagogical project, strengthening the school as a space for protection, care, and the development of a healthy life.
