Prostate cancer (PC) is a condition that affects the prostate gland, part of the male reproductive system, located just below the bladder. This small, apple-shaped gland plays an essential role in the production of semen, the thick fluid containing sperm that is released during sexual activity. Awareness of the importance of early detection of prostate cancer is crucial. The general objective is to analyze the importance of early detection of prostate cancer and the main prevention and awareness strategies focused on men's health. The specific objectives are to identify risk factors associated with prostate cancer, identify factors for the early detection of prostate cancer, verify the performance of preventive examinations, and assess the role of nursing professionals in primary health care units for preventive examinations. Methodology: A qualitative study, developed through bibliographic and documentary research, with an integrative literature review in the SciELO, Ministry of Health, and BDTD databases. Expected results: Increase public awareness of prostate cancer prevention strategies, increase adherence to diagnostic tests in at-risk populations, and identify the main risk factors associated with the disease. Combat prejudice among men who are reluctant to undergo the examination. We need to be more aware and set aside prejudices when the diagnosis is early, allowing treatment to begin quickly, with excellent chances of cure.
