Abstract

Sporotrichosis has become a growing public health problem in Brazil, mainly due to the increase in cases caused by Sporothrix brasiliensis. This integrative review analyzed articles published between 2023 and 2025 in the PubMed and BVS databases, with the aim of understanding the current epidemiological scenario. The results show that cats remain the main transmitters, contributing to a zoonotic epidemic marked by expansion into previously non-endemic regions, such as the Northeast and Midwest. Important challenges were also identified, such as a lack of effective surveillance and limitations in transmission control, especially in socially vulnerable areas. Given this, the importance of expanding prevention and health education actions is reinforced. In addition, the inclusion of sporotrichosis in the national list of notifiable diseases in 2025 represents a significant advance for case monitoring and the implementation of more effective control and epidemiological surveillance measures.
