Cardiovascular diseases (CVD) represent one of the main causes of global mortality, with lipid factors playing a central role in its pathophysiology. This study aims to analyze the lipid profile as a predictor of cardiovascular risk, highlighting the importance of components such as LDL-c, HDL-c, triglycerides and lipoprotein(a) in the assessment and stratification of risk. Through a literature review based on recent studies, the correlation between dyslipidemia and adverse cardiovascular events is evidenced, reinforcing the need for continuous monitoring of these biomarkers in clinical practice. The in-depth understanding of the lipid profile can prioritize prevention and intervention strategies, contributing to the reduction of the incidence of CVD. This research aims to understand the lipid profile (total cholesterol, LDL, HDL, and triglycerides) as a predictor of cardiovascular risk. It is a descriptive literature review based on scientific articles from the PUBMED, SCIELO, and BVS databases, published between 2015 and 2025. Finally, the results of this study may support practical recommendations for the primary and secondary prevention of CVDs, aligned with international guidelines.
