Abstract

The main objective of this article is to identify a recent formation novel, in which maintain the classic Bildungsroman form. Portrayed as a typical novel of German literature, the formation novel has changed and expanded its basic characteristics. No longer tied only to the Eurocentric context, this literary genre has been extended to American, women's, and African literatures. Therefore, the novel Niketche: a story of polygamy, by the Mozambican writer Paulina Chiziane, was analyzed, following the criteria of the authors Moretti (2020), Maas (2000), Lukács (2000) and Brändström (2021) to define the novel in question as a genuine Formation Novel.
