Nursing care plays a crucial role in patients with Chronic Kidney Disease (CKD) undergoing dialysis, especially those using arteriovenous fistula (AVF) as vascular access. This study aimed to analyze the influence of nurses’ communication strategies on treatment adherence and vascular access safety. A qualitative research design based on an integrative literature review was conducted, examining recent scientific articles on nursing, CKD, and AVF management. Results show that effective communication, combined with health education and emotional support, increases patient trust, promotes adherence, and reduces AVF-related complications. Discussion highlights that nurses, combining technical knowledge, relational skills, and humanized care, act not only as procedure executors but also as educators and facilitators of self-care. It is concluded that strengthening nurses’ communication skills is essential for patient safety, treatment optimization, and person-centered care, positioning communication as a strategic tool in dialysis care.
