This article aims to analyze the perspectives, challenges, and possible paths for the implementation of sustainable development, with emphasis on the 2030 Agenda and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Using a qualitative approach and a literature review, it seeks to understand the main obstacles faced by countries and communities in internalizing the goals proposed by the United Nations. Preliminary results indicate that, although the 2030 Agenda represents progress compared to the Millennium Development Goals, political, economic, and cultural barriers persist that hinder the realization of its goals, especially in contexts marked by regional and global inequalities. Furthermore, there is a need for greater social participation in the formulation, monitoring, and adaptation of public policies aimed at sustainable development, in order to guarantee their effectiveness and suitability to local realities. It concludes that the 2030 Agenda depends on coordinated efforts among different social actors and on confronting the structures that perpetuate exclusion and environmental degradation.
