PHARMACEUTICAL CARE IN PREVENTING THE MISUSE OF ANTIDEPRESSANTS

Pharmacists play an important role in management, pharmaceutical care, and primary health care. In terms of management, they can act in the organization of pharmaceutical care actions, in the promotion of rational use of medicines, in guaranteeing the availability, quality, and conservation of medicines, among others. This work aims to discuss the importance of pharmaceutical care in preventing the misuse of antidepressants. A descriptive literature review will be conducted using the Natural Library of Medicine (PUBMED), Latin American and Caribbean Literature in Health Sciences (LILACS), and the Electronic Library Online (SCIELO) databases, using the descriptors pharmaceutical care, prevention of misuse, and antidepressants. Scientific articles available and relevant to the topic, published in Portuguese, English, and Spanish in the last five years (2020 to 2025), were included in our analysis, in addition to following the exclusion criteria. The expected results aim to understand the importance of Pharmaceutical Care, seeking to highlight the rational use of antidepressants, contributing to the development of strategies for patient education.
