Osteoporosis is a chronic disease that weakens bones, making them more fragile and increasing the risk of fractures, especially in elderly people. Given this scenario, this study aimed to identify, through the analysis of scientific publications, the main challenges in the functional recovery of elderly individuals who have suffered osteoporotic fractures. The research was conducted as an integrative literature review. Searches were performed in the PubMed/MEDLINE and SciELO databases, using descriptors in Portuguese and English, considering publications from the last ten years. Ten articles that met the previously defined criteria were selected. The results showed that the functional recovery of these elderly individuals requires combined actions, such as early diagnosis, appropriate use of medication, physiotherapy adapted to individual needs, and follow-up by different health professionals. This joint action was essential to improve physical rehabilitation, reduce the risk of new falls, increase adherence to treatment, and contribute to a better quality of life. It is concluded that interdisciplinary work is indispensable to offer more complete and humanized care. Furthermore, it is necessary to strengthen public policies and prevention strategies that promote bone health and encourage active and healthy aging.
