This work stems from the understanding that diabetes is a chronic condition that can result in serious complications, damaging organs such as the heart, kidneys, and eyes, as well as impacting the ability of people with diabetes to work. Therefore, this study aims to analyze whether the Brazilian social security system provides adequate legal protection to these individuals, examine current legislation, the main challenges that arise in ensuring this right, and identify the practical obstacles faced by those insured. This work contributes to the social and academic debate on the effectiveness of fundamental rights, highlighting the duty of social security as an indispensable instrument for supporting people with diabetes.
