PSYCHOLOGICAL CARE FOR HOSPITALIZED ONCOLOGICAL PATIENTS: A METASTATIC PERSPECTIVE

Introduction: Psycho-oncology, which focuses on prevention, diagnosis, treatment, and terminal phases, aims to study the psychological influences resulting from a cancer diagnosis and works towards developing ways to rehabilitate these patients and their families in the psychosocial aspects. Objectives: Therefore, this study aims to analyze the importance of psychological care and monitoring for hospitalized cancer patients with metastasis. Psychological intervention becomes important and has a positive influence on the treatment of the disease, seeking to provide well-being and emotional support through coping strategies and help in patients' cognitive restructuring, improving their quality of life in the face of reality. Methodology: This study was conducted through an integrative bibliographic review of the scientific literature, using a qualitative approach. For this purpose, the following databases were used to search for GOOGLE ACADÊMICO and SCIELO articles, which addressed the desired topic. Result: Therefore, it becomes undeniable that the role of the hospital psychologist is indispensable in the context of oncological health, since, in addition to the impairment of biological health, psychological health is also excessively affected by the drastic change in routine and feelings.
