Depression is a disease characterized by mood swings, low self-esteem, loss of libido and of other functions. Depressive episodes are divided into three levels according to their intensity, such as: mild, moderate, or severe. Prescription of conventional antidepressants is common, which can affect patients' non-adherence to treatment. Medicinal plant-derived antidepressants can be used to treat this disease and its intensities. The use of herbal medicines is becoming routine, as they have the same efficacy and lower risk of adverse reactions compared to conventional medicines, facilitating treatment adherence. The medicinal plants addressed in this study will be Rhodiola Rosea, Hypericum Perforatum and Crocus Sativus.
