This article aimed to analyze the impacts of orthognathic surgery on the quality of life of patients undergoing the procedure, considering functional, aesthetic, and psychosocial aspects. It is an integrative literature review, conducted through searches in the BVS and PubMed databases using the Health Sciences Descriptors (DeCS) “Orthognathic Surgery” and “Quality of Life.” The selection included articles published between 2020 and 2025 in Portuguese, English, and Spanish. After applying filters and reading titles, abstracts, and full texts, 14 primary studies that met the eligibility criteria were included. The results showed that orthognathic surgery leads to significant improvements in facial aesthetics, oral function, emotional well-being, self-esteem, and social integration of patients. However, side effects such as labial paresthesia and changes in oral sensitivity may persist after the procedure. It is concluded that, although it is an elective surgery, the physical and psychosocial benefits associated with this intervention justify its recommendation in selected cases, especially when there is functional impairment and a negative impact on quality of life. The study reinforces the importance of a multidimensional evaluation and continuous follow-up in the rehabilitation process of these patients.
