Introduction: Burns represent a significant health problem, requiring rapid and qualified care in which Nursing plays a fundamental role in ensuring safe, organized assistance capable of reducing immediate complications. The need to systematize care becomes essential to guide conduct and ensure effective interventions in emergency contexts. Objective: Analyze the role of the nurse in the emergency and continuous care of burn patients, with a focus on infection prevention, pain management, psychosocial support, and health education. Methodology: An integrative literature review was conducted to gather and synthesize available scientific knowledge on nursing care during the initial management of burn patients, including protocols, stabilization measures, and priority care practices. Analysis and discussion of results: It was identified that nursing care for burn patients involves essential steps such as rapid assessment, thermal control, pain relief, fluid resuscitation, and prevention of complications. The analyzed studies indicated that the absence of clear protocols, insufficient training, and work overload may compromise the quality of the care provided. It was also evidenced that the systematization of care contributes to standardizing procedures, minimizing risks, and increasing the effectiveness of interventions performed during initial care. Conclusion: It was concluded that the nurse’s role is crucial for organizing care and ensuring the safety of burn patients, making it essential to strengthen training, update protocols, and promote evidence-based practices.
