The musculoskeletal system is responsible for support and movement through bones, joints, cartilage, ligaments, tendons, and muscles, in addition to serving as a reservoir of minerals such as calcium and phosphorus. It also has a hematopoietic function through the bone marrow, which produces blood components, and protects vital structures of the body such as the brain, heart, and lungs. In order to facilitate the understanding of this system, the tutors of the Orthopedics and Traumatology discipline at the University of Vassouras conducted review sessions for sixth-semester medical students. These theoretical lectures consisted of reviews of the anatomy of the musculoskeletal system and topics in orthopedics and traumatology, correlating concepts and reinforcing their importance in clinical practice. The outcome of these sessions was perceived as positive by the tutors, as it enabled them to improve their teaching skills and, for the students, provided prior understanding of topics to be presented during medical training, allowing better learning of the content.
