Abstract

Cesarean section in cattle is a surgical procedure of great importance in veterinary medicine, especially in cases of dystocia that prevent the natural birth of the calf. It is an emergency intervention aimed at preserving the life of both the dam and the calf, indicated in situations of fetopelvic disproportion, fetal malformations, or failures in uterine dynamics. The success of the procedure depends directly on the rapid and skilled action of the veterinarian, who must adopt appropriate anesthesia, asepsis, and suturing techniques, in addition to ensuring clinical monitoring during the postoperative period. This study aims to report a case of bovine cesarean section performed on a rural property in Cacoal – Rondônia, highlighting the importance of surgical intervention and veterinary care for animal welfare and reproductive efficiency.
