CHALLENGES FOR PREVENTING DENGUE IN THE STATE OF AMAZONAS

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the main challenges related to dengue prevention in the state of Amazonas, considering environmental, climatic, and socioeconomic factors, as well as the circulation of different viral serotypes. To this end, a narrative literature review was conducted based on publications between 2020 and 2025, including official documents and scientific articles. The qualitative analysis sought to understand the effectiveness of actions aimed at controlling Aedes aegypti, the degree of social engagement, and the efficiency of public policies implemented during the period. The results show that conditions such as high temperatures, high humidity, poor basic sanitation, accumulation of solid waste, and increased population density contribute significantly to the proliferation of the vector and, consequently, to the higher incidence of the disease. It was observed that integrated strategies, such as the Rapid Survey of Aedes aegypti Indices (LIRAa), environmental management, adaptive policies, and health education actions, associated with community mobilization, play an essential role in containing outbreaks and reducing cases.  In conclusion, tackling dengue fever in Amazonas requires a multidimensional and continuous approach, based on cooperation between public authorities, health professionals, and civil society, in order to strengthen preventive measures and promote sustainable improvements in health and environmental conditions.
