For many years, resin composites were not used in restorations of anterior and posterior teeth due to their low strength and durability. However, advances in the development of composite resins have provided better aesthetic and mechanical performance, expanding their indications, such as for direct veneers. This study aimed to analyze the relationship between direct veneers and periodontics, to show how poorly executed techniques can affect the periodontium, the impact of poorly adapted restorations, how biofilm accumulation causes gingival inflammation, and the importance of individualized treatment planning. The methodology used consisted of a literature review, reviewing articles found online, published in the National Library of Medicine (PubMed) and Google Scholar, between 2015 and 2025, in addition to classic articles. The studies showed that the success of direct veneers requires the technical skill of the dentist, respect for biological space, and constant patient follow-up. In this sense, it is expected that this work will contribute to the theoretical and technical knowledge of dental surgeons and future professionals regarding individualized planning and the correct execution of direct veneers with respect to periodontal limits, ensuring longevity, function, and aesthetics in the execution of veneers without damage to the periodontium.
