Abstract

This final project investigates the role of physical therapists in preventing complications in hospitalized patients with reduced ejection fraction (ERF). Ejection fraction, a crucial indicator of left ventricular systolic function, is considered low when it falls below 40%. This increases the risk of problems such as decompensated heart failure, deep vein thrombosis, and pneumonia. Physical therapy is essential for cardiorespiratory rehabilitation, early mobilization, and the use of specific techniques to improve patients' lung function and functional capacity. The integrative literature review demonstrated the effectiveness of physical therapy interventions in reducing morbidity and improving the quality of life of these patients. Implementing specific physical therapy protocols is essential to improve functional recovery and minimize complications.
