Abstract

Healthcare goes beyond the biological dimension, also encompassing emotional and subjective aspects. Pharmacists, especially in their clinical practice, have been approaching a role that requires not only technical knowledge but also communication and listening skills. This article discusses the importance of listening and empathy by pharmacists, establishing dialogues with concepts from psychoanalysis. The bibliographic research demonstrated that pharmaceutical care, when combined with an empathetic and welcoming approach, contributes to treatment adherence and the strengthening of the therapeutic bond. It is concluded that the interface between pharmacy and psychoanalysis broadens the understanding of comprehensive healthcare.
