Diastema is a gap between teeth that can have a negative aesthetic impact on some people's appearance. Its correction can be achieved through procedures such as direct composite resin restoration, porcelain veneers, and orthodontic appliances. The objective of this study is to evaluate the direct diastema closure technique using composite resin, highlighting its importance within an aesthetic restorative treatment plan. This is a qualitative and bibliographic research study, using articles related to the topic in question, in English and Portuguese, consulted in the following databases: PubMed, Scielo, Google Scholar, and Lilacs. Diastema closure with composite resin is a commonly used clinical practice in patients dissatisfied with the spacing between their teeth. This study is justified because it is a minimally invasive, low-cost technique with satisfactory results, aiming to provide aesthetic and functional outcomes, thus improving the quality of life and the integrity of patients' smiles. Closing diastemas with composite resin represents an effective and aesthetically pleasing solution for patients seeking to improve their smile. However, it is essential that the treatment be planned and executed with precision, taking into account both the technical aspects and the patient's expectations.
