Abstract

The present work approaches the main genres that formed Brazilian urban music, observing the terms, the historical synthesis and the instruments used to play each style, from the cultures involved. The research covers the period that extends from the end of the 17th century to the present day, identifying the rhythms that directly contributed to the construction of MPB.
