PRACTICAL CLASSES FOR THE URBAN AND HIGHWAY TRAFFIC POLICING COURSE AT THE PM OFFICER TRAINING CENTER OF APMG/PMPR

Abstract

The Officer Training Course of the Military Police of Paraná, which takes place at the Military Police Academy of Guatupê, which is linked to the State University of Paraná, and has been called in the civil and academic spheres since 2023 as a Bachelor's Degree in Police Sciences and Public Security, has theoretical and practical subjects throughout the three years of training. Therefore, this study reports the experience, in the years 2023 and 2024, in the discipline of Traffic, Urban and Road Policing, of the extension activities at the end of the discipline, when the students (Cadets) undergo practical activities with the Highway Police Battalion and the Traffic Police Battalion, aiming to apply in practice the theoretical knowledge passed on in the classroom. In view of this, this study has the general objective of reporting the experience related to the practical classes held at the end of the discipline and as specific objectives to present the academic extension activities carried out by the Military Police Academy of Guatupê (APMG), in its training course, to the academic world and also to expose the particular vision of this teacher during the realization of such practical extension activities. The methodology used during the practical classes is classified as active, through learning in workstations. In the end, it is concluded that the use of active methodologies with the students, corroborating the traditional methodologies already applied in police education, are positive, as they enhance the teaching-learning process and bring the student into direct contact with the end activity of the Corporation and place him as the protagonist of the teaching process.
