THE INFLUENCE OF BALANCE TRAINING ON GAIT REHABILITATION IN POST-CVA PATIENTS

Introduction: Stroke is characterized as a neurological disease and considered the second leading cause of death from disease in the world. Among the functional changes that exist as a result of the stroke, there is the impairment of balance and gait. Objective: Show the importance of balance training and motor coordination to work a more effective gait training, providing the patient with greater functional independence. Method: This is a narrative bibliographical review, in which the articles were accessed through databases published between 2010 and 2020. Conclusion: After the study, it is concluded that physiotherapy is of fundamental importance to reestablish the resulting functional changes of the AVE. With the numerous physiotherapeutic approaches used to work balance and motor coordination, the patient feels safer to walk, thus providing functional independence, resulting in a better quality of life.
