Patients with traumatic-orthopedic injuries may develop significant complications. Traumatic injuries can severely affect an individual's quality of life. This study aimed to analyze the impact of traumatic-orthopedic injuries on individuals’ quality of life. The study was conducted through an integrative literature review, with searches performed in the databases SciELO, LILACS, and PUBMED, using the descriptors (DeCS): “trauma,” “adult,” and “quality of life.” Studies published between 2015 and 2024 in Portuguese or English were selected, provided that the defined descriptors were present in the title or abstract. Studies with incomplete texts, opinion articles, and undergraduate theses were excluded. Only eight studies met the inclusion criteria. The synthesis of the literature indicated the relevance of traumatic-orthopedic injury as a factor contributing to the deterioration of quality of life and highlighted the importance of multidisciplinary health work in caring for patients—from admission to emergency services through to return home. In conclusion, traumatic-orthopedic injuries interfere with individuals’ quality of life across physical, emotional, and mental dimensions. Multidisciplinary interventions are essential to prevent complications and to mitigate long-term consequences and impacts on quality of life.
