This article sought to analyze the intersection between domestic violence and socioeconomic vulnerability, focusing on understanding how financial dependence acts as a factor in the perpetuation of the cycle of violence against women in Brazil. The study examined the structural causes of violence and the effectiveness of existing public policies, evaluating the institutional and cultural challenges that limit their application. The methodology used was a bibliographic and documentary review, with a qualitative approach of an exploratory and descriptive nature. The main results indicate that, despite a robust legal framework, such as the Maria da Penha Law, the effectiveness of public policies is compromised by structural deficiencies, lack of resources, and the strength of patriarchal culture. It was found that financial dependence is one of the main obstacles to breaking the abusive cycle, acting as a control mechanism that imprisons the victim. It was concluded that an effective fight against gender violence requires an intersectoral approach that transcends the penal response, focusing on promoting women's economic autonomy, cultural transformation through education, and strengthening the protection network.
