Abstract

Domestic violence is a serious violation of human rights that mainly affects women and reflects historical structures of inequality, machismo, and the naturalization of violence in the Brazilian family context. Therefore, it is urgent to analyze this phenomenon through a psychosocial and theoretical approach, capable of understanding its multiple dimensions. Thus, the general objective was to analyze, through a bibliographic review, the theoretical and psychosocial aspects that involve domestic violence, focusing on relational dynamics and forms of multidisciplinary intervention applied to confront this social problem. The research was developed through a bibliographic review, according to the guidelines of Gil (2008), with a survey of articles, books, theses, dissertations, and technical documents published between 2010 and 2025. The searches took place on the SciELO, BVS, Google Scholar, and CAPES Periódicos platforms, using terms such as “domestic violence,” “psychosocial approach,” and “multidisciplinary intervention.” The inclusion criteria prioritized studies with a consistent theoretical basis that addressed power relations, emotional dependence, and integrated practices for coping with violence. Materials of an exclusively legal or opinion-based nature were excluded. The results indicate that domestic violence is strongly associated with factors such as emotional dependence, gender inequality, low self-esteem, and lack of adequate social support. The literature highlights the effectiveness of multidisciplinary interventions that integrate psychologists, social workers, health professionals, and legal professionals, especially when these actions are based on humanized and contextual approaches. It is concluded that coping with domestic violence requires more than legal actions: it requires well-articulated interdisciplinary strategies that are sensitive to the psychosocial dynamics involved.
