This article analyzed the practices adopted by the nursing team in providing humanized care in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU), a complex hospital sector with advanced technology, caring for patients with a potentially life-threatening prognosis. The study was analytically and qualitatively structured, configuring a narrative literature review with an explanatory approach. The databases PubMed, Scielo, and Lilacs were used, using the descriptors "Humanization" and "Nursing” and “Intensive Care Unit” applied to studies published between 2020 and 2025. The analysis resulted in a total of 316 articles, of which only 20 met the eligibility criteria: 14 articles from LILACS, 5 from Scielo, and 1 from PubMed. The data collected in the 20 articles demonstrated that humanization in nursing care in the ICU remains a highly complex situation, evidenced by a compromise between the high technology used and the preservation of care centered on the patient and their family. The conclusion is that humanized patient care is essential in an Intensive Care Unit, enabling well-being, the importance of family involvement, and the strengthening of team relationships with both family and patient.
