Benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH) is a common condition in older men, often requiring surgical intervention when medical treatment fails. This study compares three surgical techniques: retropubic, laparoscopic, and robotic. Retropubic surgery is effective for large prostates but is associated with higher morbidity. Laparoscopic surgery offers shorter hospital stays and fewer complications, but requires greater expertise. Robotic surgery, despite its high cost, provides faster recovery and better functional outcomes. The choice of technique should consider the patient's profile, prostate volume, and available resources, highlighting the need for investment in technology and training to expand access to minimally invasive approaches.
