Abstract

With the advancement of information technology and the popularization of social media, new challenges have emerged in the legal field, especially regarding the protection of people's honor, image, and dignity. The ease of disseminating information and the sense of anonymity afforded by the internet have contributed to the rise of practices that harm honor, such as slander, defamation, and insult, which now occur on a much wider scale and with potentially devastating consequences. In this context, this project aims to analyze how the Brazilian legal system treats crimes against honor in the virtual environment and how current legislation responds to the new demands of the digital society.
