COMPLICATIONS CAUSED BY PERIODONTAL DISEASE IN DOGS – EXTENSION PROJECT

Abstract

This project aims to present the main consequences caused by periodontal disease, the main conditions that affect dogs with periodontal disease, the importance of treatment when this disease is present, and the proper oral hygiene needed to prevent it. With the advancement of veterinary medicine, it can be concluded that periodontal disease is present in most domestic animals; however, many owners are unaware of this information or, when the disease is diagnosed, choose not to proceed with treatment because they are not conscious of the possible related complications.
