Abstract

Human anatomy presents constant structural variability that challenges traditional concepts, as is the case with the palmar arch, particularly with changes in the arrangement of the ulnar and radial arteries, with the persistence of the median artery. In this context, these changes can influence both clinical and surgical procedures. This integrative literature review sought to analyze the anatomical variations of the palmar arch, based on 13 selected articles. The results revealed that this diversity in vascular supply can result in significant manifestations in clinical practice. A detailed understanding of these vessels is essential, as they can influence diagnosis and therapeutic interventions. The need for continued research is highlighted, focusing on the impacts of these changes and their benefits on procedures, diagnoses, and treatments. In short, analyzing these variations is essential to improve diagnoses, treatments, and procedures, as well as their effectiveness, so that such measures become personalized for each patient.
