CONTRIBUTION OF COGNITIVE BEHAVIORAL THERAPY TO THE TREATMENT OF ONLINE GAMBLING

The advancement of the digital revolution and the growing popularity of online gambling have generated significant public health concerns, with impacts observed globally. At the same time, Gambling Disorder (JD) has been recognized as a psychiatric condition characterized by a persistent behavioral pattern of seeking financial gains that can lead to substantial losses. Aim: To investigate how Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) can support the treatment of individuals with JD related to online gambling. Methodology: This study was conducted as an integrative literature review, covering articles published since 2020 in the SciELO, PubMed, PsycINFO and Lilacs databases. Results: Fifteen articles were identified that demonstrated the contribution off CBT to Treatment for Gambling Disorder (JD) due to online gambling. The analysis of these studies revealed that Cognitive Behavioral Therapy stands out as one of the most promising therapeutic approaches, demonstrating its ability to reduce the severity of symptoms and the frequency of gambling behavior. Conclusion: The findings reinforce the importance of CBT as an effective intervention in the treatment of JD associated with online gambling. This study highlights the relevance of evidence-based therapeutic approaches to mitigate the negative impacts of this condition in an ever-expanding digital environment, contributing to improving the mental health of affected individuals.
