Abstract

With increased competition in the private sector, the public sector has become an attractive alternative for professionals from all areas who seek financial stability, recognition, personal development, a desire to serve society, competitive salaries and appreciation. The Military Police of the State of Paraná (PMPR) is one of the options for public examinations, where there is the possibility of entering as a Private through the CFSd (Soldier Training Course) or as an Officer through the CFO (Officer Training Course). Some of the necessary characteristics for the candidate are willingness to work, leadership skills, adequate interpersonal relationships, intelligence, verbal fluency and resilience. Public examinations have become attractive in recent years, but two decades ago what motivated Military Police officers to seek this examination specifically. The Study was based on Military Police officers who took the CFSd in the years 2002 and 2023, in the 14th Military Police Battalion of Paraná, located in Foz do Iguaçu, in the Triple Border region formed by Brazil, Argentina and Paraguay. This article aims to analyze and compare the profiles and motivations of Military Police Officers who joined the force in 2002 and 2023, both assigned to the 14th Military Police Battalion of Paraná, headquartered in Foz do Iguaçu – a strategic region of the Triple Border between Brazil, Argentina and Paraguay. The research, of a quantitative and exploratory nature, identified elements that reveal changes in the socioeconomic and educational profile of those joining the force, as well as in the motivations that led them to choose a career in the police force. It was noted that social and economic changes had a great impact on candidates' choice of a career in the police force.
