The reception of refugees in Porto Velho, the capital of Rondônia, has gained prominence due to the increase in the flow of migrants in the North of Brazil, especially of people coming from Venezuela. In this context, Public Civil Action No. 1007228-23.2024.4.01.4100, currently underway in the Federal Court, seeks to guarantee dignified reception conditions, with a focus on humanitarian assistance, access to basic services such as health, food, housing and education, in addition to mechanisms that promote the social integration of these individuals. The action highlights the urgency of effective and coordinated public policies between the Union, State and Municipality, which respect the fundamental rights guaranteed by international treaties and the Federal Constitution. The case reinforces the importance of the involvement of civil society, non-governmental organizations and public institutions in building a solid and humane support network. Adequate reception is essential to guarantee dignity, security and opportunities for rebuilding life in Brazilian territory.
