Foreign body ingestion is a common emergency in emergency departments. One notable object involved is the dental prosthesis, with advanced age, poor maintenance, and psychiatric comorbidities being risk factors for such occurrences. This case report describes the accidental ingestion of a dental prosthesis, which became impacted in the proximal esophagus. Such a condition can lead to severe consequences if diagnosis is delayed or incorrect. In this context, imaging tests such as radiography and contrast-enhanced computed tomography appear to be sufficient for diagnosis. Early intervention is essential to prevent complications, and the endoscopic approach is preferred. However, due to the variety of dental prostheses and the anatomical complexity of the upper gastrointestinal tract, this approach is not always feasible, and treatment decisions must be individualized.
