CIVIL LIABILITY OF THE STATE IN RELATION TO THE SUICIDE OF A PRISONER WITHIN PRISON

This study presents an analysis of the doctrinal understanding regarding the duty to compensate for material and moral damages in the event of a prisoner's suicide within the scope of the State's Civil Liability. The bibliographical research on the subject, through legal articles, doctrine, legal journals, case law, constitutional and infra-constitutional norms will be the specific procedural method of the work in question. This research will use primary and secondary data and will be qualitative. It is concluded that public policies to protect families in social and economic vulnerability are important as a way to prevent suicide and value life. In addition, it is understood that education, work, housing, accessibility, cultural policies, among others, promote the quality of life of families and can serve as measures to prevent suicide.
