ALTERNATIVE WAY OF REPORTING DOMESTIC VIOLENCE: ONLINE PLATFORMS AS A SUPPORT TOOL FOR REPORTING DOMESTIC VIOLENCE AGAINST WOMEN

Abstract

In this paper, we will discuss an alternative way of reporting the aggression suffered by Brazilian women, highlighting the easy and practical access to exercising their rights and guarantees. This paper will present the negative and positive aspects of the method chosen for study. In contemporary times, technology is embedded or expressed in every space occupied by humanity, bringing effectiveness and efficiency to everyday work. Along the same lines, technology has been expanded in the form of reporting, to make reporting by victims of domestic violence more accessible and safer. This will apply to those who have no contact with society, housewives, those who do not have information on how to report a crime to the authorities, women in rural areas where police protection does not reach them, those who do not have means of transport to get to a police station or even those who have an active social life but are afraid or ashamed to report violence suffered at home. With this in mind, simple applications were developed, installed on cell phones, where women can send a signal that they are suffering abuse, regardless of where they are, and even without talking to anyone, at that first moment, when their aggressor has a lower chance of identifying or witnessing this act, thus bringing the comfort and security necessary for the victim to take action. However, technology still leaves some gaps that need to be filled or improved, and these issues will also be highlighted here, providing constructive criticism and possible suggestions for better access, and for more and more women, unfortunately victims, to benefit from these tools, so that one of the most deadly crimes in Brazil can be confronted and welcomed.
