This study aims to understand the risk factors and treatment of gestational diabetes, where gestational diabetes is a metabolic disorder that occurs during pregnancy due to hormonal changes that cause insulin resistance, leading to high blood glucose levels. Although it usually disappears after delivery, this condition can be associated with serious complications, such as preeclampsia, premature birth, fetal macrosomia and increased risk of type 2 diabetes in the future for mother and child. This study was descriptive in nature, with a quantitative and qualitative approach, focusing on the literature review on the risk factors and treatments of gestational diabetes. The research used secondary data sources, such as scientific articles, books, clinical guidelines and previously published epidemiological studies. It is concluded that treatment includes lifestyle changes, such as a balanced diet and physical exercise, in addition to medications or insulin, when necessary. Early detection and continuous monitoring are essential for a safe pregnancy.
