Introduction: Pyogenic granuloma is a common reactive lesion in the oral cavity, characterized by benign vascular proliferation triggered by local trauma, chronic irritation, or hormonal changes. In addition to it, other reactive lesions, such as inflammatory fibrous hyperplasia, peripheral giant cell granuloma, and peripheral ossifying fibroma, are also frequently encountered in dental practice. Objective: This study aims to conduct an integrative literature review on pyogenic granuloma, addressing its clinical, histopathological, diagnostic, and therapeutic characteristics, as well as discussing other associated reactive lesions. Methodology: The research was carried out in the PubMed, SciELO, and Virtual Health Library (VHL) databases between 2020 and 2025, using specific descriptors. Results: The findings revealed that although these lesions share similar clinical aspects, they present histological and therapeutic particularities that require the dentist's attention. Discussion: Pyogenic granuloma and other reactive lesions present clinical similarities that demand accurate differential diagnosis based on histopathological analysis. The choice of appropriate treatment, combined with the elimination of irritative factors, is essential to prevent recurrences. Conclusion: It is concluded that accurate diagnosis, combined with proper therapeutic approaches, is crucial to avoid recurrences and complications.
