Abstract

This article reports on the experience of an internship in Psychology at the Psychosocial Support Center in Curitiba. A psychosocial support center or therapeutic residence meets the requirements of the Psychology course, which is a basic observation experience in this field with the aim of better understanding it. In this sense, some observations of the location and the patients were made to perform an institutional diagnosis. These observations showed the quality of care for these patients in a humanized manner and within the proposal of deinstitutionalization of the psychiatric reform. The experience highlighted the importance of humanized care and emotional bonds, highlighting challenges such as the absence of family and the overload of professionals in long-term care facilities.
